Contact us if you know anyone, anywhere who would be willing to show us around, meet us for a cup of coffee, open their home to us, or just be a friend when we are so far from our homes.




IRELAND – Fiona, Claire M, Claire K, Aideen, Caroline, Jennifer, Denise (tour guides, cooks, taxi, roommates, dear friends) – Brian, Michael, John (fun night out in Galway)

ENGLAND – nice man that helped us find Buckingham Palace

FRANCE – Jason and Tom (a nice evening on “crepe street” and the beer), Desiree (a great walking tour of the city, full of fun facts)

SPAIN – French-Canadians (karaoke in the streets of Madrid), Sarah (Tour guide and tapas extraordinaire), Chris & Genie (circling destinations on our map)

PORTUGAL – Home Hostel and the great people we met (it was our home away from home)

SWITZERLAND – Balmer’s Herbage (hosting a wonderful 4th of July Party),  Andy, Greg (granola bars and water)

ITALY – Chris & Genie (so glad we re-met up with you), Faraz (great roommate), Azad (great hostel manager)

GREECE – Drew (recommending the hostel in Athens), Amy, Olesia, and Alicia (fun girls’ night out in Athens), Jono and Shaun (coffee and beach day in Santorini), Santorini (a great vacation from our trip), Greece (amazing cuisine)

POLAND – Colin, Misio, Taras, Eric (great company, generous gentlemen, and awesome Absinthe drinking partners), Misio (finding the two blondes), Colin (organizing our meeting and extra funds that went to dinners, ice cream, and replenishing our toiletry supply), Igor, Alex, Eva, Berndt (fun night at the Jazz club and an eye opening day at Auschwitz), Alex and Neil (Dancing) Goodbye Lenin Hostel (free Wodka… we hate you and love you for this)

CZECH REPUBLIC – Drew (an overall fun day, it was great to see you again!), Jakob (joining us for drinks)

GERMANY – Karl and J-C (the unnecessary vodka shots, a fun time at the Russian bar, and great dinner companions), Jack (best free city tour guide ever…we learned so much!), Richie and Michael (fun memories and the beers), Jon, Ander, and Javier (a fun night at Hofbrauhaus and the beer), Yvonne, Tony, and Brody (we can’t even put into words our sincere gratitude! a home, laundry, dinners, ice cream, a couch, a bed, friendship… it was everything we could have hoped for!!!)

EGYPT – Mego (knowledgeable and fun Egyptian tour guide) and the rest of our GAP crew

INDIA – Fran and Eve (helping us figure out our escape route from Delhi), Emily and Lewis (a fun day in Rishikesh), Lucy and Julian (good company), Mama (making us feel at home in India), Ginni (sweet woman from the train who offered us her home and helped get us a taxi to the airport)

THAILAND – Glen, Jeanie, Tom, James, Tom, Harry, and Mr. Perfect (an amazing trekking group!), Aussie Rules football team (a fun night at full moon party), Sam and Nat (a fun night out, see you in Australia), Scuba Crew (underwater buddies), Norman and Johan(many fun nights in Ko Tao)

LAOS – Esther, Tamsyn, Aimee (making the slow boat bearable and fun memories in Luang Prabang), Patrick and Jay (keeping our lives safe while tubing down the river)

VIETNAM – Rory, Andy, and Tal (fun times in Halong Bay)

CAMBODIA – Aaron, Jacinta, Leila (good company for a night out in Phnom Penh) and Chelsea (making Jayme’s birthday so special)

MALAYSIA – Seth (giving us a ride when we were lost)

INDONESIA – Albert (a friendly chat from a local and our first introduction to Bintang), Anama (sharing her lovely home and life with us), Mark and Peter (fun night at Paddy’s, surf lessons, and good company), Norman (fun week exploring Bali), Eliz, Lea, Simsim, and Nancy (showing us the wonderful side of Jakarta), Carren (introducing to Bandung’s factory outlet stores and a nice dinner)

PHILIPPINES – Cherlina (setting us up in her beautiful home with her family), Jocelyn, Renalyn, and Marie (showing us around and looking after us)

SINGAPORE – Alice and Kyle (fun night out and a place to stay), Norman (wonderful surprise)

AUSTRALIA – Ariane and Bec (EVERYTHING), Beauchamp family (a home), Opah (giving us a job and a bonus… a wonderful group of friends), Gary (an unforgettable boxing day, many shifts at the restaurant, and big greek hugs) Scotty (delicious lunches, countless laughs, pairs of drinks, memorable friendship), Matt (wingman, adopted brother, camping, rostering us off to hang out, a place to pass out, egg mcmuffins, and boom!), Phil and Dane (countless coffees), Lauren, Jenn, Emma, and Jill (good girl friends!), Kirstie, Carly, and Rachel (delicious dinners and fun nights out), Patrick (hanging out in your home country and chatting about traveling), Adam (good company, gernerosity,  and a fun farewell dinner), Cyndi, Richard, Mary, and Travis (flying from Colorado to Australia to share in our experience… it was great Globalizing with you), Northies and 2230 (fun times), Cronulla (providing us with a home away from home)

NEW ZEALAND – Dan and his parents (opening their home to us and showing us around Auckland), Mindy and John (being our ¨New Zealand parents¨ and spoiling the heck out of us)

CHILE – Bridget (flying from Colorado to turn the duo into a trio), Casa Roja friends (many crazy nights)

ARGENTINA – Laura and Angela (translators and friends on a fun filled bike/wine tour), Steve (fun laughs and memories in four seperate cities), Maria (positive and fun girl to be around), Milhouse (crazy times), Juan (a chance to see the city with a local), Jenn (good travel partner)

URUGUAY – Lizzie and Oystein (fun travel companions for Jayme in Colonia)

BRAZIL – Norman (flying from Germany to meet Chelsea for an amazing week together)

BOLIVIA – Steve and Naomi (grape vodka and sing along partners), Chris and Rich (a “happy little family”),  Sonja (awesome pool player and fun girl)

PERU – Ed and trekking group (a memorable 5 days together), Loki del Mar (fun times by the sea)


  1. You guys need to get in touch with my mom in New Zeland, Auckland. She will show you around, you can stay in a real house and she will cook for you. She maybe be offened if you go to her country and don’t at least see her once. Just an idea. I know she would love to take care of you guys, she is a great caregiver.

  3. Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Austria is where our Euro-rail will be good.

  4. A girl I used to live with when I was student teaching just got back from a year or more in Thailand and she said this is the best place to stay in Phuket. The rooms range from around $8-$15 depending on if you want a private bath or a view…

  5. Hey Ladies! So when you are down under and need a break…one of my best friends has a resort in Fiji and she has rescued friends for me before…also if u find yourself near Hong Kong i have two other gf’s that have showed friends around and they are pretty connected so that could be fun….

  7. make sure you make it up to the basque country.. (northern spain) i have some friends that will surely take you around and show you the country.
